How the formula works
Steps = Rise ÷ Riser Height | Run = Steps × Tread Depth | Stringer = √(Rise² + Run²)
- Number of Steps = Total Rise ÷ Riser Height (rounded up)
- Actual Riser = Total Rise ÷ Number of Steps
- Actual Tread = Total Run ÷ (Number of Steps − 1)
- Stringer Length = √(Total Rise² + Total Run²)
- Slope Angle = arctan(Total Rise ÷ Total Run)
- Total Area = Stair Width × (Total Run + Stringer Offset)
- Total Cost = Total Area × Cost per m²
