How the formula works
Total Cost = Σ (Quantity per Assembly × Unit Price) × Number of Assemblies
- Bill of Materials (BOM) = List of all materials needed for a product
- Qty per Assembly = Quantity of each material needed for one assembly
- Total Qty = Qty per Assembly × Number of Assemblies
- Item Cost = Total Qty × Unit Price
- Material Cost = Sum of all item costs
- Cost Per Assembly = Material Cost ÷ Number of Assemblies
- Labor & Overhead = Additional costs not included in material cost
